I have spent more than a decade in Cybersecurity and I even did an M.S in Cybersecurity due to the love for the field. I can tell you that Cybersecurity is one of those domain that evolves rapidly either due to disruption by a product manufacturer who helps lift the overall security posture or due to the evolving threat actors and their effective attack methodologies. To me, even calling the domain with a single noun seem like an understatement. The experts in the field know that Cybersecurity has direct responsibilities over the seven layers of OSI model and heck even including the infrastructures and assets used within an organization. With the new AI wave sweeping across the horizontals and vertical segments of every organization out there, Cybersecurity should undoubtedly see a major shift in the way they carry out their operations. In this blog, I am intending to share the evolving products that are reshaping the way we operate within various classes of Cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity: The practice of protecting systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks. These attacks are usually aimed at accessing, changing, or destroying sensitive information, extorting money from users, or interrupting normal business processes.

OSI Model: The Open Systems Interconnection model is a conceptual framework used to understand network interactions in seven layers: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application.

In today’s digital age, cybersecurity threats have become more sophisticated and pervasive than ever before. From ransomware attacks crippling critical infrastructure to data breaches exposing sensitive information, the landscape is increasingly complex and challenging for organizations worldwide. According to the 2024 Data Breach Investigations Report by Verizon, the number of cyber incidents has surged, with financial and healthcare sectors being prime targets. As these threats evolve, traditional security measures struggle to keep pace, necessitating a more advanced approach to safeguard digital assets.

Threat Actors: Individuals or groups that pose a threat to cybersecurity, often responsible for carrying out cyber attacks. They can be hackers, criminal organizations…
